METAL TO INFINITY
86/100 (Review by Officer Nice) Metal To Infinity - Belgium
From Estonia I'd like to introduce you House Of Games. ''Rise and shine'', an ideal album to listen to during the first days of spring 2009. Why? Just because the music gives me a good feeling, brings me into the right mood for this time of year, the summer ahead of me...
If you're into professional Hard Rock, with a lot of sense for melody I have the duty to tell you more about this band. The combination of heavy songs with awesome softer Rock music is the perfect description to tell you what House Of Games is all about. The band often reminds me to Tesla and other similar bands that ruled during the eighties in this particular Hard Rock scene. It means you'll hear a lot of slung chords, happy refrains and plenty of good sounding 'Rock 'N Roll'. The sound of the songs, the way the vocal lines are performed, the solos are played... are not exactly new but anyway adorable.
The production is very strong! Some songs were recorded under supervision of Kevin Shirley, who used to work with bands like Aerosmith, Dream Theater, HIM, Iron Maiden etc. The mastering was done at the Masterdisk Studios in New York by Howie Weinberg (Metallica, Def Leppard, Nirvana, Faith No More,...). It says a lot about House Of Games' professionalism!
This band is full of talent in songwriting and performing. Songs like 'My Child', 'Ave Maria' and 'Spanish Man' will easily convince you if you're into this kind of music. House Of Games is focused on good rhythms, awesome vocal lines and overall good musicianship. Vocalist Erik Meremaa has a very good voice, sometimes comparable with Mike Patton (Faith No More).
Yes, this is another strong release from a band from which I can only hope they will receive a lot of support. If you know that they toured with W.A.S.P. and Sebastian Bach you'll probably understand the future of this band can be bright.
This is American sounding melodic Hard Rock from Estonia; unbelievable but nevertheless outstanding! This is the kind of album to sing along during these sunny days!
